Volunteering with us at the Wyck Estate

Join our passionate team of volunteers at our picturesque vineyard! We’re seeking dedicated individuals to help us maintain our beautiful vineyard while enjoying the serenity of the natural surroundings.

Hands-On Graft in the Hertfordshire Soil

Our volunteer program gives you a genuine behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build an English vineyard from the ground up. Running from winter preparation through to autumn harvest—typically January to October—we welcome curious hands to get stuck into the real rhythms of the estate. You’ll assist with essential seasonal tasks including winter and spring pruning, bud rubbing, canopy management, under-vine weeding, mowing, and general estate care. You do not need any prior viticulture or gardening experience; Andy, Charlotte, and our friendly team will show you the ropes step-by-step, making every session an engaging, educational, and satisfying day in the field.

A Peaceful Countryside Escape

Tucked away amidst the rolling greenery of St. Ippolyts, our vineyard provides a tranquil haven away from the noise, screens, and rush of everyday routine. As you work along the vine rows, you’ll be surrounded by wide-open skies, birdsong, and sweeping views of the historic Hertfordshire landscape. It is the perfect setting to disconnect from daily stresses, breathe in fresh country air, recharge your batteries, and bond with warm, like-minded people who share a love for the outdoors, good company, and great wine.

Shared Memories, Celebrations, and First Pours

We consider our volunteers an integral part of the Wyck Estate family, and we believe hard work in the vineyard should always be celebrated. Throughout the season, we host relaxed social gatherings, estate barbecues, and informal get-togethers right between the vines. Most exciting of all, as our vintages mature and reach the bottle, you will be invited to raise a glass alongside us—tasting the very fruits of the labour you helped nurture. It’s about building lasting friendships, sharing proud milestones, and creating a genuine community project you can look back on for years to come.

Lend a Hand, Learn the Craft, and Share the Adventure

Whether you are a keen gardener or just fancy some fresh country air, we’ll welcome you with open arms. Volunteering with us is a rewarding, hands-on experience open to everyone—no experience needed, just enthusiasm and sturdy boots. It is a great way to learn about English winemaking, unwind in a peaceful setting, and help shape our vineyard from the ground up.Send us a quick message below to register your interest, and let us know if you'd like to join our Volunteer WhatsApp Group for session dates, weather updates, and social meet-ups. What our volunteers say

Grape picking at The Wyck was a wonderful new experience for me, with the opportunity to chat with lots of different volunteers throughout the day! The meal that Charlotte and Andy provided was the perfect way to end the morning!

I also recently had the chance to taste the wine we helped pick, which made the experience even more rewarding!

I would 100% go grape picking again and would very much return to the same vineyard!!

Overall, it was such a super fun experience, and would recommend others to try!

Bella O

I’ve been very happy to help out when I can to support this very exciting new venture. It’s great to see an initiative like this unfold right on our doorstep in Hitchin. It’s also great to see the community get around it too with the same sense of enthusiasm. We’re all rooting ( and weeding and pruning and picking) for you!
